This position focuses on maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles and equipment to ensure reliable and safe operation across the fleet. The work supports the overall mission of the Department of Transportation through consistent upkeep and diagnostic service. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Repair: Repair and overhaul vehicles and equipment including engines, electrical components, and hydraulic systems
- Preventative Work: Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to keep vehicles and tools in proper working condition
- State Inspections: Carry out official safety and emissions inspections and complete required paperwork
- Diagnostics Expertise: Identify mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and determine appropriate repair methods
- Safety Practices: Maintain a clean and safe work area, as well as follow proper safety procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: Work hours are subject to change based on operational needs.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,819.00 (before taxes).

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a current and valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.
- This position requires possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
Additional Requirements:
- You must obtain a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate and a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate, upon hire.
- You must provide your own mechanics toolbox and basic tool set.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
