Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Shady Grove

About the role Picture your day starting across the Shady Grove campus: a call from a production line, a transformer inspection on the west lot, then a quick install to keep a critical cell online. As our Industrial Power Distribution & Controls Electrician, you perform essential electrical installations and keep equipment running reliably across Shady Grove facilities—and at other sites as directed by the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisors, the Electrical Engineer, or their designees.

Along the way, you champion our continuous improvement culture, supporting Lean, 5S, and TPR initiatives.

What you'll tackle

Own troubleshooting—from low-voltage DC controls to three‑phase 480/12,500V distribution—diagnosing issues fast and restoring uptime.

Install, commission, and service motors, generators, transfer switches, transformers, switch gear, bus ducts, and disconnects.

Apply NEC, IEEE, and NEMA standards to daily work; perform load calculations to correctly size conductors, conduit, fuses, and breakers per the National Electrical Code.

Execute preventive and corrective maintenance in a heavy manufacturing setting, documenting work clearly and escalating risks promptly.

Pitch in on additional tasks assigned by supervision as needs evolve.

What you bring

Deep working knowledge of OSHA requirements and NFPA 70E for live electrical work in industrial environments.

Valid driver’s license.

Skilled electrical tradesperson with broad familiarity across power distribution and controls.

Education & experience

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Technical trade school training and/or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.

At least 2 years in heavy manufacturing, a commercial/industrial apprenticeship, or comparable military experience preferred.

Preferred qualifications

Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring and ladder diagrams, and interpret single‑line high‑voltage diagrams used for Arc Flash NFPA 70E compliance.

Comfort reading operating procedures and technical manuals; able to write clear routine reports and correspondence.

Health & safety expectations

Maintain exemplary housekeeping and 5S standards in the department.

Work safely and wear all required PPE at all times.

Follow established job-specific and facility-wide safety procedures and rules.

Engage in safety training and demonstrate competency.

Surface safety concerns and suggestions to management—or correct hazards you can safely address.

Working Environment:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This position covers any and all manufacturing environments, and may be located inside or outside. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use tools or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand, reach, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Incumbent must be able to physically climb ladders and safely operate lift equipment, such as scissor lifts, Manlifts and boom trucks.

Incumbent will work in a typical manufacturing environment including the use of solvents, adhesives, hydraulic oil, petroleum products, etc. There is frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds. Incumbent must be willing to work at various heights.

Our commitment to continuous improvement

Beyond the tools and torque specs, you’ll help drive Lean, 5S, and TPR practices that make our operations safer, cleaner, and more efficient every day.

Note This summary highlights the core scope of the role; responsibilities may be adjusted or expanded by the company as operational needs evolve.
