Screed Operator

The H&K Group is seeking a skilled Screed Operator to join our Construction - Skilled Labor team. In this on-site role, you will operate and adjust asphalt screed equipment to produce a smooth, accurate mat, maintaining proper depth, slope, and crown. Working closely with the paving crew, you'll read grades, follow directions from the foreman, and help ensure safe, efficient operations in the field.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and control asphalt screed equipment on paving projects
• Set, monitor, and adjust screed depth, slope, crown, and vibration to meet specs
• Work with paver operator and foreman to maintain consistent speed and mat quality
• Read grade stakes and follow layout to achieve proper line and grade
• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections and basic equipment maintenance
• Monitor asphalt mat for smoothness, texture, and uniformity; report issues promptly
• Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures and use required PPEAssist paving crew with general labor tasks as needed
• Communicate clearly with crew to coordinate work and resolve problems on site
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and equipment
