As a Maintenance Repairman 2 with the Department of Human Services (DHS), you will play an important part in keeping the Loysville Youth Development Center running smoothly. This position performs semi-skilled and skilled work across multiple trades to support the upkeep and long-term maintenance of buildings and grounds within the youth development center system. The role requires versatility, responsibility, and adherence to agency policies to ensure a well-maintained facility. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • General Maintenance: Perform carpentry, plumbing, heating and cooling, painting, masonry, and electrical tasks across assigned areas
  • Equipment Work: Install, maintain, and repair cooking, refrigeration, laundry, welding, and construction equipment
  • Facility Repairs: Repair doors, windows, roofing, gutters, partitions, drywall, and structural components as needed
  • Grounds Care: Carry out lawn care, snow removal, and security fencing upkeep while operating related equipment
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain strict accountability for tools and materials and follow all safety and security regulations
  • Travel Support: Drive vehicles to other facilities and vendors for delivery and pick-up of parts and materials

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is considered essential during weather and other emergency events.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements :
  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Other Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
