This position focuses on teaching automotive mechanic trades skills in both classroom and hands-on settings. Work helps create a productive environment while fostering lasting, positive change. As a Corrections Automotive Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

• Classroom Instruction: Deliver lessons on automotive practices, methods, and procedures
• Training Oversight: Guide inmates through inspection, repair, and overhaul tasks on various vehicles
• Work Crew Direction: Assign tasks, oversee and review completed
• Record Keeping: Maintain documentation of training progress, assignments, and attendance
• Tool Control: Issue, track, and complete searches to ensure all tools and materials are accounted for
• Resource Planning: Determine and request needed tools and materials for task, assignments, and work orders

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,036.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of experience in the diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various components and systems used in automobiles, trucks, or construction or heavy equipment;
  or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the automotive mechanic trade;
  or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the automotive mechanic trade.

Special Requirements:

• You must possess an active Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning Technician Certificate issued by an approved provider.
• You must possess an active motor vehicle license.
• You must possess an active Pennsylvania Emissions Inspection certification and an active Pennsylvania Inspection Mechanic certification for class C vehicles and any other class of vehicles used in the facility.
