Commercial Service HVAC Oil Technician

Location: Harleysville

A leader in commercial HVAC services is hiring a skilled Commercial Service HVAC Oil Technician to join its Service Department in Harleysville, PA. This position focuses on servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing commercial HVAC and oil-fired heating equipment in existing buildings. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, sound diagnostic abilities, and a customer-focused approach to service. This role works closely with customers, dispatchers, management, and other technicians to identify system issues, recommend appropriate solutions, and ensure HVAC equipment operates safely and efficiently.

The technician will also participate in preventative maintenance, emergency service, equipment installations, and an on-call rotation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Troubleshoot commercial HVAC equipment and systems to identify malfunctions, determine appropriate repairs, and assess when equipment replacement may be necessary.

- Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of HVAC systems to verify proper operation and identify potential issues before they become larger problems.

- Service, repair, and install oil-fired furnaces, boilers, heaters, burners, and related equipment.

- Install new oil heating equipment and make necessary modifications to existing systems.

- Respond promptly to emergency repairs and service calls as part of an on-call rotation.

- Diagnose and work with connected HVAC controls, piping, ductwork, and related system components.

- Service and troubleshoot a variety of commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, cooling towers, heat pumps, air conditioners, hydronic systems, geothermal systems, gas furnaces, gas boilers, oil furnaces, oil boilers, and water heaters.

- Communicate directly with customers regarding equipment conditions, recommended repairs, system upgrades, pricing, and the value of proposed solutions.

- Serve as a trusted technical resource for customers by identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance, efficiency, and reliability.

- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships by understanding individual equipment needs and service expectations.

- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for each completed job.

- Follow all applicable safety standards, procedures, and regulations.

- Assist other technicians when needed and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

- Stay current with continuing education and developments related to commercial HVAC and oil heating systems.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or HVAC-related education is preferred.

- Valid HVAC technician license and/or relevant HVAC certifications.

- Demonstrated experience servicing and troubleshooting oil-fired heating systems in commercial environments.

- Strong understanding of oil burners, controls, piping, ductwork, and commercial HVAC systems.

- Working knowledge of commercial air conditioning and multiple types of heating and cooling equipment.

- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to identify underlying system issues rather than only addressing surface-level symptoms.

- Excellent customer service and communication skills.

- Ability to clearly document service activities, findings, repairs, and recommendations.

- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.

- Strong time-management skills and the ability to efficiently manage service calls and competing priorities.

- Willingness to participate in an on-call service rotation.
