As an Automotive Mechanic for the Department of Transportation, you will support critical repair and maintenance work on trucks, tools, and construction equipment. This position performs preventive maintenance and repair on a wide range of vehicles, tools, and equipment used in transportation operations. The role supports safe operation, dependable service, and proper care of both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Repair: Perform skilled maintenance and repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, construction equipment, and powered hand tools
- Preventive Service: Carry out routine maintenance including diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes, and system repairs
- Safety Inspection: Complete official state safety and emissions inspections and document results according to requirements
- Field Support: Provide emergency repairs, road service, and on-site maintenance at field locations when needed
- Parts Management: Obtain parts and supplies and provide information to ensure proper components are purchased
- Workplace Safety: Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow procedures to prevent injuries and equipment damage
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Hours subject to change due to weather or season
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,819.00 (before taxes).

- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade;
or - Completion of an approved apprenticeship;
or - Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
- This position requires possession of a current and valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.
- This position requires possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
