This individual will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks and equipment. If you are skilled with your hands and are passionate about maintaining/repairing heavy equipment, you will be an excellent fit for this opening within our company. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strive to reduce repair and maintenance costs on a long term basis
  • Ability to work with external vendors and order parts or supplies needed to complete equipment repairs
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a variety of fleet equipment such as Heavy Haul Trucks, Loaders, Excavators and Dozers
  • Perform routine maintenance on trucks/equipment such as checking batteries and changing oil to ensure proper vehicle running
  • Inspect various parts of trucks/equipment, including brake systems, wheel bearings and steering mechanisms to ensure they are in the proper condition to operate effectively
  • Use different tools and equipment such as pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, screwdrivers, hoists and jacks, to repair equipment while constantly utilizing safety precautions
  • Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using devices such as motor analyzers, handheld computers and chassis charts to determine how to address problems
  • Replace parts, valves, bearings and gears as needed
  • Enter service and/or repair information into a computerized work order system to track maintenance activities for each piece of equipment being serviced or repaired
  • Must be able to pass random drug and alcohol testing

JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience working as a mechanic required, four years preferred
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment
  • Must be comfortable working in confined spaces
  • Critical thinking, analysis and evaluation abilities
