Position: County Social Services Aide 1 (Local Government)
Location: Honesdale

THE POSITION

Located in Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Children & Youth Services is looking for a caring and responsible person who will make a difference by providing services to families with children in all areas including parent education, nutrition, life skills, etc. Assists and educates in all phases of the family's life. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports families in their homes by helping them develop skills to create safe and stable routines. The work centers on practical guidance and daily life support that improves overall family functioning. As a County Social Services Aide 1, you will perform the following duties:

* Home Support

Skills:

Guide families in budgeting, hygiene, nutrition, home care, and parenting tasks

* Transportation Assistance:
Drive consumers to supervised visitation and required appointments

* Child Care Support:
Provide care when needed and help with completing forms and applications

* Documentation Duties:
Write reports after each appointment and take part in planning meetings

* Court and Office Tasks:
Attend court when needed and assist with general clerical responsibilities

* Physical Demands:
Navigate stairs, walking distances, manage several tasks, and work evenings and weekends

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

* Full-time employment

* Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

* Possible travel requiring overnight stays. Possible after-hours appointments for supervised visitation and transportation.

* Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.

* Salary:
In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

* Graduation from high school; or

* Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Requirements:

* You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency Guidelines.

* You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

* You must pass a background investigation.

* A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.

* This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

* Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
