County Caseworker 1
County Caseworker 1 with Elk County Children & Youth offers a chance to make a real difference for children and families. The County Caseworker 1 position gives you the opportunity to grow your skills while changing lives.
This position focuses on providing social and case management services that support children, youth, and families. The work involves investigating concerns, offering guidance, and connecting people with helpful resources. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Case Investigation: Conduct investigations into concerns involving child abuse or neglect
- Family Support: Provide in-home services that help families address challenges and build stability
- Resource Coordination: Connect clients with agencies and programs within the social services network
- Behavior Monitoring: Observe and document client actions to support accurate case management
- Problem Solving: Apply techniques that help families work through difficult situations
- Documentation Accuracy: Maintain complete and accurate records for all casework activities
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- On call required and is compensated at a rate of $500/week.
- A $3000 recruitment incentive is offered to hired candidate. Retention recruitments are also offered.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
