As a County Caseworker 1 with Perry County Children and Youth Services, you will play a vital role in supporting children and families in need. Responsibilities- Provide a full range of social and case management services to children, youth, and families.
- Perform service planning on intakes, including completion of intake documentation and determination of risk using the approved risk assessment model.
- Investigate reports of mistreatment and abuse of children and provide for the safety of those children.
- Perform general protective services including a minimum of monthly home visits with families and the development of family service plans.
- Perform out‑of‑home placement duties to include monthly visits and family contacts.
- Maintain detailed family files and perform related work as required.
- Complete Core Training series for County Caseworkers and Caseworker Certification after employment begins.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 1‑hour lunch.
- This position is included in a 24‑hour on‑call rotation.

- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;
or - A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;
or - Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
