THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position involves working directly with children and families to support their safety and well‑being while following agency guidance. You will manage assigned cases, respond to referrals, and participate in reviews. As a County Caseworker 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Case Support:
Assist children and families through assigned service plans. - Family Engagement:
Conduct visits and maintain communication with families to guide progress. - Investigative Work:
Carry out assessments and investigations for accepted cases. - Service Planning:
Develop and review plans that meet legal and policy requirements.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1‑hour lunch.
- On‑call rotations and home visits to accommodate work and school schedules.
- Telework:
Optional part‑time telework up to two days per pay period, subject to supervisor approval and policy compliance. - Telework requires a secure high‑speed internet connection and an approved Pennsylvania location.
- Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
- Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
- A bachelor’s degree with a social welfare major; or
- A bachelor’s degree that includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- This position requires you to possess a valid driver’s license that is not suspended.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law, including submission of satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, FBI Fingerprint clearance).
