Position Overview
County Caseworker 1 at Perry County Children & Youth is a chance to make a real difference for families in your community. This role gives you the opportunity to support children and guide families toward safer and stronger futures. You will grow your skills while doing work that truly matters every day.
Responsibilities- Service Planning:
Conduct intake assessments, document information, and determine risk using the approved assessment model. - Safety Investigations:
Investigate reports of child mistreatment or abuse and ensure the safety of children involved. - Family Support Visits:
Complete monthly home visits and help develop family service plans. - Placement Monitoring:
Manage out‑of‑home placements through monthly visits and family contact. - Record Maintenance:
Maintain detailed and accurate family files.
Completion of the Core Training series for County Caseworkers and Caseworker Certification is required to be completed after employment begins.
Schedule and Additional Information- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with a 1‑hour lunch.
- Work schedule includes a 24‑hour on‑call rotation.

- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework that includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- A bachelor’s degree, or a degree supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in those subjects; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in those subjects and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case‑management functions.
- Applicants who are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits will be considered to have met the educational requirements.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
