Position: County Caseworker 1 (Local Government) - Northumberland County MH/ID (Multiple Vacancies)
Location: Coal Township

The County Caseworker 1 position with the Northumberland County Intellectual/Developmental Services Program gives you the chance to uplift individuals who need dependable support. You will help people strengthen life skills, connect with services, and stay on track with personal goals. This work allows you to promote stability and confidence in those you serve. This role centers on gathering information, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental needs, and guiding them through treatment and service options. You will help people access benefits, develop personal goals, and stay safe in their communities.

As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Plan Development: Prepare individualized service plans that describe goals and needed services
  • Benefit Assistance: Assist individuals in completing applications for available benefit programs
  • Progress Coordination: Lead meetings that review consumer advancement in charted goal areas
  • Supportive Services: Arrange community-based supports such as budgeting guidance, social skill development, and daily living assistance
  • Documentation Management: Maintain records and files that support continuity of care and advocacy
  • Crisis Response: Provide immediate assistance during emergencies as directed by supervisory staff
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;
    or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;
    or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
