This entry level role works closely with caseworkers and other social service aides to provide services in the home to families with children. Work occurs after a caseworker has visited and determined which services are to be provided and is centered on one-on-one assistance in all areas of family life. Care and communication with families helps them work toward positive goals and outcomes.

As a County Social Services Aide 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Family Support:
  Provide guidance with household budgeting, proper hygiene, nutrition, cooking, and shopping skills
• Home Assistance:
  Help families maintain safe, orderly, and effective living spaces and routines
• Parenting
  
  Skills:
  
  Teach effective parenting skills in the home
• Documentation Work:
  Write a report of each appointment, pay close attention to details, manage multiple tasks, meet strict deadlines, and complete clerical duties as needed
• Care Plan Communication:
  Attend meetings with caseworkers to share important information about client progress that will help develop care plans, set goals, and coordinate services
• Other Practical Aid:
  This position may also transport children and families to supervised visitation and necessary appointments, provide childcare during appointments, or testify in court

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Possible after-hours appointments for supervised visitation and transportation.
• Possible travel requiring overnight stays.
• Telework:
  You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:
  
  In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

• Graduation from high school; or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

• You must pass a background investigation.
• A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
