We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our growing Consumer team. The Consumer team at Kraken focuses on building applications that expose Kraken’s product offering to the mass market. Trying to onboard the next 100 million people to the benefits of crypto.

This role primarily involves developing features and maintaining our “Consumer” mobile applications, which consists of a suite of applications aimed at offering the simplest way for our customers to interact with Kraken. We expect anyone applying for this role to have an extreme eye for detail, a passion for building genuinely world‑class user experiences, a “ship fast but don’t ship shit” attitude, and be highly self‑driven.

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality web & mobile applications using React Native
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including Product, Design, and Backend Engineering, to deliver high‑impact features and improvements
• Drive the technical vision and direction of the company's Consumer applications by participating in architectural decisions and technology evaluations
• Identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical challenges across multiple domains and technology stacks
• Contribute to the development of best practices and engineering standards to ensure the highest quality of code
• Mentor and guide junior and senior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our mobile applications remain current and competitive
• Shape major open source initiatives, driving innovation and collaboration

• 8+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on web and mobile applications
• Deep understanding of JavaScript/Type Script and expertise with React
  
  JS & React Native frameworks
• Deep understanding of iOS and Android SDKs, as well as experience with native development (Objective‑C/Swift/Java/Kotlin)
• Hands‑on experience in consumer payments & fintech mobile applications
• Experience with API design, security, and performance optimization
• Familiarity with modern build pipelines and tooling and testing frameworks
  
  Strong understanding of UI/UX best practices and principles
• Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

• Significant experience of developing micro interactions and animations in React Native
• 10+ years of full‑time engineering experience within a large technology organization or fast‑growing startup
• Experience in leading or managing engineering teams
• Contributions to open‑source projects or published technical articles
