Friday, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm and Saturday & Sunday, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm (19 hrs bi‑weekly)

Mid‑June to Mid‑August, Monday – Friday, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm

• Ensure the safety of residents by preventing and responding to emergencies in and around the pool.
• Monitor pool activities to prevent accidents.
• Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning.
• Administer First Aid.
• Advise swimmers of unsafe practices and enforce pool rules.
• Follow emergency action plans and procedures.
• Maintain order in the pool and adjoining areas.
• Inspect facilities for cleanliness and perform general cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Ensure the availability and safekeeping of emergency equipment.
• Determine chlorine content and pH value of water, using a testing kit, and record readings.
• Provide general information on pool operation to swimmers.
• Complete required paperwork.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Knowledge of pool equipment and maintenance.
• Knowledge of lifesaving methods and procedures, including first aid and standard resuscitation measures.
• Knowledge of swimming pool sanitation and chlorination systems.
• Skill in the application of lifesaving techniques.
• Skill in swimming.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies.
• Ability to perform rescue actions, administer first aid, and CPR.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• Valid Lifeguard Certification from the American Red Cross required.
• At least two years of previous lifeguard experience; preference given to those who have worked with intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals.
