Responsibilities
- Supervise the entire aquatics team to ensure that the health and safety of the campers is maintained at all times while they are engaged in lake or pool activities. This includes lifeguard positioning, area of camp assignment and shift changes as needed.
- Strictly enforce all waterfront procedures with both the lifeguards, camp staff and campers as described in Camp Zeke’s waterfront manual.
- Supervise the mechanized and non‑mechanized boating program to ensure all safety protocols are followed at all times. This also includes administering testing to those lifeguards who wish to be a part of the water ski and tubing program. Those staff who wish to operate the mechanized boats must be cleared to do so by the waterfront director.
- Maintain and/or inform the camp maintenance team when an issue occurs to the powered boats on the lake. Knowledge of basic maintenance of a Jet Ski, outboard engine and fuel transfer (from container to boat) are a must.
- Supervise the staff assigned to the learn‑to‑swim program for campers and staff taking instructional swim.
- Oversee the maintenance of ALL assets and grounds at both the lakefront and pool, assign daily and weekly maintenance tasks to the waterfront staff.
- Work with the camp facilities staff to coordinate pool chlorine testing and recording results. Also coordinate with facilities staff about cleaning all pool traps and meeting other health and safety requirements.
- Assist program specialists and program director to provide lifeguards for night time evening programs at the pool.
- Must hold or obtain current lifeguard, WSI, and Pennsylvania Boating Safety Education certificates.
- Prior experience – minimum 3-5 years – supervising an aquatic center, lake or beachfront or similar recreational facility.
- Ability to effectively and clearly communicate, as well as to supervise a diverse staff and large number of campers.
- College graduate.
- Implements clean up and open/close down procedures for their area of responsibility.
