Position OverviewThe Bellefonte Area School District is seeking a Cafeteria Aide to help foster a welcoming atmosphere during mealtimes and assist with daily food service operations. This role supports the overall dining experience for students by promoting positive behavior, ensuring safety, and helping with basic cafeteria tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain a pleasant, orderly environment in the cafeteria
- Organize students into orderly lines for purchasing food.
- Organize students for orderly disposal of food wastes, trays, and utensils.
- Organize groups for orderly dismissal from the cafeteria.
- Implement the rules and procedures for students as established by the building principal.
- Report any emergencies immediately to the school office.
- Responsible for wiping tables, cleaning up spills, and maintaining a clean, safe cafeteria.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager and/or Building Principal.
Minimum: High School Diploma/GED
Experience RequirementsMinimum:
- Prior experience in food service operations
- Familiarity with cash drawer handling and point-of-sale systems
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
Preferred:
- Six months experience working with children
- Experience in a public education cafeteria operations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to hear with 40 decibel loss maximum and see with acuity of 20 inches or less and far acuity of at least 20 feet normal depth perception, field of vision and accommodation. Must be able to reach above and below the waist, walk and use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects.
Requires use of both hands for repetitive motion. Some bending and twisting of the body required. Ability to stand 80% of the workday.
