Yard Operations Manager

We are seeking a Yard Operations employee to manage and coordinate warehouse/yard distribution activities, including order picking, shipping, and receiving. This role involves operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, ensuring efficient materials handling and adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will have warehouse experience, mechanical knowledge, and familiarity with warehouse management systems, as well as familiarity working with large forklifts and tractor trailers.

This position plays a vital role in maintaining smooth yard operations and supporting overall warehouse productivity.

• Load and unload materials using heavy equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Perform order picking and inventory management utilizing Acumatica ERP.
• Operate heavy equipment safely following OSHA guidelines and mechanical best practices.
• Manage shipping and receiving processes efficiently to meet operational deadlines.
• Conduct materials handling tasks such as pallet jack operation, heavy lifting, and load securing.
• Assist in yard organization, ensuring clear pathways and proper storage of goods.
• Support warehouse supervision in daily operations, safety compliance, and process improvements.
• Maintain accurate documentation of materials movement and inventory levels.
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and mechanical maintenance of yard equipment.
• Help in other departments as needed with tasks such as gate making, post drilling, or general yard cleanup.

• Proven experience in warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving, or construction environments.
• Skilled in operating heavy equipment including cranes, forklifts, clamp trucks, RF scanners, pallet jacks, and other warehouse machinery.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
• Prior experience in warehouse supervisor roles or leadership is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
• Valid certification for forklift operation preferred but not mandatory; if not current, ability to obtain a forklift operation license is required upon employment.
