CDL Truck Driver-Residential

Job Summary

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on the line of business. Drivers transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial Drivers provide pick‑up service of containers filled with waste or recyclable material, often weighing over 1,000 pounds and requiring maneuvering into a pick‑up stage area. They navigate high‑traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots;

highly skilled backing manoeuvres are essential. Residential Drivers collect residential household waste or recyclable material, navigating residential routes, driveways, alleyways, and lots. Roll‑off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations, navigating tight overhead environments on industrial routes and performing skilled backing manoeuvres.

• Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, and DOT requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
• Immediately report all unsafe situations or service‑related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Route Manager.
• Work closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
• Notify Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Notify Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service or potential safety hazards.
• Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
• Completely dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
• Follow route assignments as directed and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.
• Perform all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.

• 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or 1 year equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
• Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
• CDL – Class A Commercial Driver License with an air‑brake endorsement upon hire or Class B Commercial Driver License with an air‑brake endorsement upon hire.

• High School Diploma or GED (accredited).

This position may require the successful candidate to travel by air for business reasons or service federal property. Successful candidates must have, or be willing to obtain, a REAL  TSA‑approved alternative.
