Job Description Position SummaryThe Transportation Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the safe, efficient, reliable, and cost-effective transportation of the district’s public, nonpublic/private, special education, and other eligible student populations.
The Transportation Supervisor serves as the district’s authorized representative for student transportation matters and works closely with contracted transportation providers, District administrators, school personnel, families, the Intermediate Unit, outside educational programs, and regulatory agencies. The Transportation Supervisor exercises independent judgment in transportation decisions, following consultation with the Director of Business and transportation contractors when appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Transportation Operations and Routing
- Plan, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the district’s daily student transportation operations.
- Work with contracted transportation providers to develop andmaintainsafe and efficient bus routes, stops, schedules, vehicle assignments, and student loading plans.
- Coordinate transportation for public, nonpublic/private, kindergarten, special education, career and technical education, alternative education, and other eligible students.
- Coordinate specialized transportation services for students attending Intermediate Unit programs, approved private schools, and other out-of-district placements.
- Collaborate with the Intermediate Unit and appropriate District personnel todeterminestudent transportation eligibility and service requirements.
