Fleet Maintenance Supervisor
To work as a team member for a leading electrical contractor as a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor who is responsible for providing quality service and support to our operating divisions at various locations operated by I.B. Abel, Inc. This position requires day to day interaction with effective communication and support services between the Fleet, Ops, Training, and Safety & Quality Departments as well as field operations in the Communications, Electrical, and Utility Divisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventative Maintenance & Inspections
- Develop, document, and maintain a bi-annual preventative maintenance and inspection schedule, ensuring all required inspections and maintenance are completed within the designated 60-day window. Provide oversight to ensure the preventative maintenance program is consistently followed and maintained.
- Fleet Repairs & Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate equipment moves and repairs while communicating with all affected parties. Take direction for maintenance and repair requests from the Fleet Coordinator (Dispatcher) and communicate solutions based on the available resource schedule. Coordinate all maintenance activities with vendors and serve as the primary point of contact for fleet management vendors, including Ford, Penske, and other service providers.
- Communication & Documentation
- Maintain clear and consistent communication between departments, recognizing that effective communication is a crucial function of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor role. All discussions and maintenance-related activities must be properly documented within IB Abel systems, with appropriate follow-up conducted through phone or email.
- Invoices & Maintenance Approvals
- Review and approve maintenance and repair invoices on a weekly and timely basis. Ensure invoices accurately reflect the materials or services requested and provided, while also reviewing ongoing maintenance requirements.
- Fleet Records & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date equipment maintenance and repair records within Vista/Tenna. Ensure Fleet Support staff have efficient processes in place for maintaining and organizing fleet records and documentation.
- GPS & Vehicle Recalls
- Manage and coordinate all GPS installations as directed by the Operations Administrator. Coordinate vehicle recall notices with the Fleet Manager and ensure required actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Fleet Supplies & Equipment
- Order necessary truck supplies, ancillary equipment, and other materials required to support fleet operations and maintenance needs.
- Yard Inspections
- Conduct regular yard checks to physically verify and account for equipment. Inspect vehicles and equipment for proper decals, GPS installations, overall condition, and other required items to ensure fleet assets are properly maintained and accounted for.
- Travel Requirements
- Business travel may be required as part of the position to support fleet operations, vendor coordination, inspections, and maintenance needs.

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with suppliers and customers.
- Needs to be detailed oriented with advanced problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of vehicles and related equipment.
- Respect deadlines
- Able to take tasks to completion.
Who We're Looking For:
Required:
- Over five years' work experience in the Automotive, Truck or Equipment Field.
- Specific expertise in both heavy equipment and boom equipped vehicles. (aerial devices)
- Self-starter / motivated individual who is able to work independently.
- Driver record free of moving violations, accidents and have the ability to drive company vehicles safely.
- Outlook Suite, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word skills required.
- Ability to flex your schedule during peak demands.
