Material Handler
The Controls Group Material Handler is responsible for the material flow to and from the Controls Assembly group for all jobs and shop supplies. Reports to the Shop Foreman.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage material flow to and from Assembly for all jobs and shop supplies
- Verify correct Part Numbers (P/N) against packing slips, pull tickets, and bills of material
- Receive and transact materials in the business system and customer portals
- Label, organize, and maintain material storage locations and racks
- Distribute job materials to shop personnel, ensuring accuracy in P/N and quantities
- Serve as a point of contact for material-related issues between warehouse, production, and internal teams
- Identify, track, and help resolve material discrepancies (non-conformances)
- Support inventory control activities including cycle counts, adjustments, and reconciliation
- Communicate material issues and updates with internal teams and customers as needed
- Process excess materials (returns to inventory, vendor returns, credits, etc.)
- Support shipping/receiving and warehouse operations as needed
- Assist with order picking, expediting, and general problem-solving
- Coordinate local pick-ups and deliveries as required
- Maintain accurate records and respond to emails in a timely manner
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Identify opportunities to improve material flow, organization, and warehouse processes
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to learn and effectively use ERP/business systems
- Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment preferred
- Forklift experience required
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with part numbers and inventory accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work cross-functionally with warehouse, production, and office teams
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between local branches as needed
