The Material Handler supports the daily operations of the Assembly department by ensuring materials are received, organized, staged, and delivered accurately to production. This role is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, processing material transactions, and working closely with multiple departments to keep production running efficiently. Reports to the Shop Foreman.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against packing slips, work orders, and bills of material.
- Process material receipts and inventory transactions within the company ERP system and customer portals.
- Organize, label, and store inventory to maintain an efficient and accurate material flow.
- Stage and distribute materials to production personnel, ensuring the correct parts and quantities are issued for each job.
- Investigate and resolve material discrepancies, including shortages, damaged products, and non-conforming materials.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Warehouse, Production, and customers to resolve material-related issues.
- Return unused materials to inventory, process vendor returns, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Support warehouse operations by assisting with order picking, expedited requests, and material movement as needed.
- Complete local pickups and deliveries when required.
- Respond to emails and maintain clear communication with internal teams.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize the company's ERP and inventory management systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Forklift experience or the ability to become forklift certified.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel between local branch locations as needed.
