Material Handler
The Material Handler safely and efficiently moves, stores, and ships materials within a high-volume manufacturing and warehouse environment. This role loads and unloads trucks, manages shipping documentation, monitors inventory accuracy, and supports process improvements to increase operational efficiency. The position requires consistent, reliable attendance, the ability to work independently, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Responsibilities- Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using forklifts, hand jacks, and electric pallet jacks.
- Manage shipping documentation and paperwork to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Track shipment progress, proactively address delivery issues, and communicate status as needed.
- Maintain compliance with shipping regulations, including DOT and customs requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and stock accuracy to support production and shipping needs.
- Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manage stock rotation and monitor expiration dates to minimize waste and ensure product quality.
- Analyze shipping and material handling metrics to identify areas for process improvement.
- Implement process optimization strategies to increase efficiency, accuracy, and throughput.
- Perform picking, packing, general labor, and other warehouse tasks as needed.
- Use various hand and electrical tools and equipment safely and correctly.
- Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work independently while meeting deadlines and production requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support warehouse and manufacturing operations.
- Forklift certification required.
- Prior experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Manufacturing experience preferred, with 2–4 years of experience in a similar material handling role.
- Experience operating hand jacks and electric pallet jacks preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and inventory handling.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to read, write, hear, see, and speak clearly.
- Ability to work independently and perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Consistently excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to stand for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs continuously and up to 74 lbs frequently.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder level, kneel, balance, push, pull, twist, and perform repetitive and robotic motions continuously.
- Ability to use both feet on a continuous basis.
- Ability to use both hands for simple and firm grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive actions on a continuous basis.
- Ability to read computer screens and other electronic devices as part of daily tasks.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with inventory, picking, packing, and general labor in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with shipping regulations, including DOT and customs requirements.
- Ability to analyze shipping and inventory metrics to identify process improvements.
- Comfort working in areas with fluctuating temperatures.
- Demonstrated commitment to working safely and following safety procedures.
- Ability to adapt to changing job assignments and varying physical demands.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, alternate schedules, and weekends as needed.
- Comfort using various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
