High Reach Operator
Shifts:
1st, 2nd & weekend shift
Responsibilities
- Receive, store, pick, load, and distribute building product materials inside and outside the distribution center.
- Operate propane or electric-powered industrial trucks, including reach trucks, high reach forklifts, order pickers, cherry pickers, pallet jacks, and similar equipment to lift, stack, tier, and move products or materials.
- Transport materials to and from receiving, storage, and production areas by positioning forks, lifting platforms, or other lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials.
- Sort and place items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Pull customer orders promptly from stock, place them on pallets, and transport orders to packing stations, the shipping department, or directly to trucks.
- Track customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions to achieve daily production and fulfillment goals.
- Verify the accuracy, quantity, and quality of items received and loaded for delivery, maintaining clear and accurate records.
- Participate in annual physical inventory counts and periodic product counts as directed, ensuring labels and tags are accurate and up to date.
- Operate high reach equipment and order pickers at heights of up to approximately 40 feet, using camera and laser level guidance from ground level or from elevated platforms.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of fall protection devices and personal protective equipment, while performing repetitive lifting, reaching, and material handling tasks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage and staging of materials.
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to operate or learn to operate powered industrial trucks such as reach trucks, high reach forklifts, order pickers, cherry pickers, and pallet jacks.
- Comfort working at heights up to approximately 40 feet using high reach equipment and elevated platforms.
- Ability to perform physical work, including moving an average of 560 units daily with an average weight of 30 pounds and handling up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions such as lifting, reaching to and from ground level, and lateral left-right movements safely and consistently.
- Capability to work within fall protection device weight limitations of 310 pounds.
- Basic skills in tracking and verifying orders, including reading customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions.
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate sorting, labeling, and placement of products.
- Commitment to following safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment.
- Electric pallet jack experience is a plus.
- Experience with reach truck, high reach forklift, order picking, cherry picker, loading, unloading, and general material handling is beneficial.
- Willingness to participate in continuing training, including learning to operate high reach equipment with additional instruction once hired.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manchester, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
