The Youth Development Specialist/Tutor is accountable for providing personalized instruction through hands‑on project‑based learning experiences. The Youth Development Specialist will focus on targeted academic support, enrichment opportunities and social‑emotional learning. Overall, the Youth Development Specialist/Tutor contributes to CHS’s strategic objective of reimagining what HOME means by creating spaces where every child and family is supported and has access to the opportunities they need to pursue their dreams.

Provides personalized instruction through hands‑on project‑based learning experiences, focusing on targeted academic support, enrichment opportunities, and social‑emotional learning.
- Collect, analyze, and track student performance data to monitor academic progress and inform instructional strategies.
- Provide individualized and small‑group tutoring aligned with student needs and academic standards.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, including documentation, service delivery, and progress measurement.
- Implement approved curriculum and program materials to support targeted learning outcomes.
- Design and facilitate project‑based learning activities that promote engagement and skill application
- Develop and maintain individualized learning plans based on assessment results and student goals.
- Track attendance, participation, and academic progress using program or district data systems.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and program staff to align tutoring services with classroom instruction.
- Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders, including program coordinators, parents, and school staff.
- Support students’ social‑emotional development by reinforcing positive behaviors, motivation, and self‑confidence.
- Prepare instructional materials and lesson plans aligned with academic standards and program expectations.
- Participate in required trainings, meetings, and professional development sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA and organizational policies.
- Implement behavior management strategies to create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Adjust instructional approaches based on ongoing evaluation and feedback.
2. Contribute to a positive, engaging work environment.
- Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on dependency‑related issues and trends.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, and the quality management process.
- Comply with CHS’s code of conduct, policies, practices, contracts and other legal obligations.
- Assist with training other team members and providing back up when necessary.
- Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
Education, Licenses &
Certifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited university, required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, preferred.
- Florida Driver’s License within 30 days from hire with daily access to a reliable and insured vehicle, required.
Experience:
- Certified teacher in Elementary/Secondary Education, Reading, English, Math or Science, preferred.
- Two years of experience teaching, preferred.
