Position: Adjunct Faculty, Massage Therapy (Academic Year 2025 - 2026)

Job Summary

We're looking for a teacher and adviser in massage therapy, focused on effective teaching and advising of diverse students, with strong communication skills and commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The instructor will teach occupational skills, provide students with the competence to become skilled in their field, and help them secure a job in their new career. The instructor will also demonstrate occupational materials, tools, and equipment, enforce safety procedures and standards, and manage storage and property.

This position reports to the Program Director and Department Head. Availability for morning and evening classes is required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist and follow all curriculum requirements and collaborate as a team player.
  • Teach occupational skills and knowledge to students so they become competent in their field and ready for employment.
  • Demonstrate the use of occupational materials, tools, equipment, and processes using standard or instructor‑prepared aides per state requirements.
  • Provide instruction on safety precautions and the safe operation of tools and equipment per state requirements and manufacturer guidance.
  • Control the storage, maintenance, and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in a hands‑on activity classroom setting.
  • Be available for both morning and evening classes.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a Massage Therapy Certification/License.
  • Licensed in the field of massage for at least six years, or a two‑year degree with four years’ experience, a four‑year degree with two years’ experience, or a master’s degree with one year experience.
  • Proficiency with various types of massage modalities.
  • Clear understanding of OSHA and sanitization rules and regulations, and job safety.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.
  • All successful candidates will undergo a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) background check; candidates who fail to disclose adverse information on the investigation will be disqualified from employment.
