Position Overview
The Computer Science Instructor position is a 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty position, anticipated to begin in August 2026. The instructor will teach associate‑level courses in the Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Artificial Intelligence programs and baccalaureate‑level courses in the Cybersecurity program, as assigned. The primary duty station will be the Pensacola Campus, with possible assignments in multiple campuses, day, evening, and distance‑learning formats.
Responsibilities- Prepare course plans and materials and effectively deliver course content.
- Monitor student attendance and progress and assess student learning outcomes.
- Participate in departmental and college committees, curriculum development, and selection of textbooks.
- Support activities that foster student retention.
- Perform other service and professional development activities.
- Graduation from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the College with a master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related discipline.
- Successful results of a criminal background check.
- Compliance with Florida Statutes §435.04(2) regarding background investigations.
- Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related discipline.
- Post‑secondary teaching experience, including distance‑learning courses.
- Related industry experience in computer programming.
- Knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing, or artificial intelligence.
$42,250.00 – $48,250.00 for a 9‑month contract with a master’s degree. $47,000.00 – $53,000.00 for a 9‑month contract with a doctoral degree.
Faculty members hired with less than three years of related experience shall be placed on the salary schedule as follows: 164 Day Base (2025‑2026) — Bachelor's or Less: $39,500;
Master’s: $42,250;
Master’s Plus: $44,000;
Doctorate: $47,000. All degree classification levels add the appropriate dollars (up to $6,000) for years of credited experience.
