POSITION OVERVIEW JOB SUMMARY

The School of Nursing at the University of West Florida (UWF), in Pensacola, Florida, invites applications for a 12-month, full‑time position, as the Associate Director of the School of Nursing at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor tenure‑earning or Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Practice, non‑tenure earning. The salary for this in‑person position will be commensurate with experience. This position is located on the Pensacola campus.

The Associate Director of the School of Nursing provides operational and academic leadership in the areas of Academic Leadership, Faculty Development & Support, Strategic Planning & Administration, Accreditation and Compliance, and Student Affairs. This role supports the implementation of the School’s strategic priorities by overseeing day‑to‑day academic operations, mentoring and supporting faculty, advancing quality improvement initiatives, ensuring adherence to accreditation and regulatory standards, and promoting student success.

The Associate Director fosters a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation while supporting the broader vision established by the Executive Director. This role will also have an assigned teaching load up to 50% or .50 FTE. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and master's degree program in nursing at UWF is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Responsibility

Academic Leadership

  • Provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing programs (BSN, MSN).
  • Ensure academic quality, rigor, and alignment with national accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Guide curriculum development, program review, and academic innovation.
  • Monitor student learning outcomes and collaborate with the Executive Director to oversee assessment processes.

Faculty Development & Support

  • Mentor faculty, including onboarding and professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative and scholarly environment among faculty and staff.

Strategic Planning & Administration

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and leadership team to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to short‑ and long‑term planning for program growth, resource allocation, and academic priorities.
  • Assist with development and management of budgets, grants, and external funding opportunities.

Accreditation and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., CCNE, NTF) and state board of nursing regulations.
  • Oversee data collection, reporting, and self‑studies for accreditation and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of changing standards and best practices in nursing education.

Student Affairs

  • Support student success, including recruitment, retention, academic progression, and graduation.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and team oriented learning environment.

Interprofessional and Community Engagement

  • Promote interprofessional collaboration across health science disciplines.
  • Support partnerships with clinical agencies, healthcare systems, and community organizations.
  • Represent the School of Nursing in internal and external meetings and events.

Research and/or Scholarship

  • Support and promote faculty and student research initiatives.
  • Encourage scholarship in teaching, practice, and community engagement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Earned doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited institution or a doctoral degree in health sciences, public health, healthcare education, or a closely related discipline and a masters or bachelors in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Holds an unencumbered, active Registered Nurse license, and is eligible for licensure in FL (or multi‑state license), or Advance Practiced Registered Nurse license in Florida.
