Position: Adjunct Faculty, Astronomy (Academic Year 2026 - 2027)

Job Description

The Natural Sciences Department offers college‑level Astronomy courses in face‑to‑face, live online via Zoom, and asynchronous online formats. Adjunct instructors will instruct students, develop curricula, assess student learning, participate in program evaluation, and maintain college and department standards. This position reports to the Department Head, Natural Sciences.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct students in face‑to‑face, live online via Zoom, and asynchronous online courses.
  • Develop curricula and course materials.
  • Assess student learning and participate in program evaluation.
  • Maintain college and department standards.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Master’s degree in a related field or a master’s degree with 18 graduate‑level hours if the degree is not directly aligned.
  • Successful criminal background check results.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology required for the assigned course(s).
Salary

Adjunct Faculty will be paid on an hourly basis according to degree level:

  • Master’s Degree: $35.00
  • Doctorate: $38.00

This is an open applicant pool. Positions are filled by the department on an as‑needed basis.

Eligibility and Background Check

It is an employment eligibility requirement to meet the requirements of §435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified for employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting an employment application will be disqualified from employment.
