Position Overview

The Physics Instructor is a 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty position at Pensacola State College, starting in August 2026. The instructor will teach Introductory, Algebra‑Based, Calculus‑Based, and Lab physics courses, as well as other Physical Science courses such as Descriptive Astronomy or Meteorology as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of physics courses and labs.
  • Prepare course plans, instructional materials, and assessments.
  • Deliver subject matter content effectively and engage students.
  • Monitor attendance and track student progress.
  • Advise students and support student retention.
  • Participate in departmental and college committees, curriculum development, textbook selection, and program assessment.
  • Engage in service activities and professional development.
  • Accommodate multiple campus, day, evening, and distance‑learning assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Physics or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in physics.
  • Graduation from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by Pensacola State College.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check in accordance with Florida Statutes §435.04(2).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Physics and post‑secondary teaching experience.
Compensation
  • Master’s level: $42,250–$48,250 for a 9‑month contract.
  • Doctoral level: $47,000–$53,000 for a 9‑month contract.
