Job Title

This position supports the Dean and provides coordination, maintenance, and operational support for the College's Honors Program, Degree Works, Enrollment Management, and Curriculum functions. Responsibilities include coordinating academic operations and ensuring the accurate processing, maintenance, and communication of academic information across college systems.

Essential Functions/Duties

Honors Program:

  • Support the tracking of students in the honors program.
  • Support faculty, administrators, and staff as well as students with scholarly project needs.
  • Support the planning of and participate in honors events such as honors orientation, honors showcase, honors banquet, etc.
  • Support honors recruiting activities including, but not limited to, preparing honors materials and engaging in college fairs and college open houses.
  • Prepare business forms related to the honors program including room arrangements, travel arrangements, and financials.

Degree Works:

  • Support scribing activities within the Degree Works system to help maintain degree audits for students, which also provide planning notes for students.
  • Support the Ed Planning side of Degree Works.
  • Support Banner activities as related to Degree Works.
  • Answer Degree Works questions from the college community.
  • Support the delivery of and assist in the delivery of Degree Works trainings, which might also include aspects of Banner, college-wide.

Enrollment Management:

  • Support schedule building activities.
  • Build all schedules and make edits in Banner.
  • Support enrollment balancing activities including verification of enrollments, notifying students of cancellations, and making adjustments to schedules based on enrollments.
  • Support the development of new course schedules to provide a better student experience.

Curriculum:

  • Support the addition and curriculum modification process for programs and courses.
  • Support the management of the catalog system and proposal management system.
  • Support the transfer of curriculum information between different college systems.
  • Support the Academic Quality Council.
  • Provide communication support related to curricula.

Performs other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the supervisor and/or other divisional staff members.

Typical Qualifications

Required Skills Data Conception:

  • Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (like or divergent from obvious standards) of documentation, files, accounts, and equipment.
  • Experience with computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Interpersonal Communication:

  • Ability to work well with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Includes issuing and receiving assignments, instructions, and/or directions.

Language Ability:

  • Requires ability to read Standard English, as well as basic technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, etc.
  • Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats. Requires the ability to communicate with many people from various professional backgrounds.

Critical Thinking

Skills:

  • Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of instructions or inquiries furnished in written and/or oral form; to acquire knowledge of topics related to occupation.

Verbal Aptitude:

  • Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow oral/written instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, the public, and students.

Numerical Aptitude:

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide; calculate decimals and percentages.

Knowledge:

  • Must possess knowledge of accepted policies and practices in American higher education related to building and maintaining college curricula, course structure, course prerequisites, program outcomes, and course objectives.

Working Conditions/Additional Information

  • Normal office working conditions are expected, which may include occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Some attendance at seminars and conferences may be required.
