POSITION OVERVIEW
JOB SUMMARY:

To teach undergraduate and graduate classes in Finance (face-to-face and online), especially courses associated with Problems in Corporate Finance (the capstone finance course), Investments, Financial Management, and other Finance-related courses to adequately provide a good foundation in Finance and to prepare students for other classes within the department and the Lewis Bear Jr. College of Business. This position will teach three classes each fall and spring.

This position will also serve on departmental, college, and university committees. This faculty member will maintain professional affiliations and contribute to professional activities. The person in this position must retain their scholarly academic qualifications. This position will mentor students and provide advice on professional endeavors. This position may require teaching at the nearby Fort Walton Beach campus of the university (approximately 50 miles east of the Pensacola campus).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Holds the highest degree appropriate to the field or possesses equivalent qualifications based on professional experience, and be otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. The appointee engages in teaching, scholarship and creative projects, and/or service and other related activities.

POSITION

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctoral degree from an AACSB-accredited institution in Finance or a closely-related field, including at least 18 graduate semester hours in Finance and a strong commitment to teaching, academic research, and service.
  • Continuing professional development and an active research agenda to maintain qualifications for performing teaching assignments.
  • Post secondary teaching experience, including proven effectiveness in online course development and teaching.
  • Evidence of potential for quality scholarship, including publication in qualifying academic journals.
  • Documented experience teaching (both in person and online) Problems in Corporate Finance (the capstone finance course), Investments, and Financial Management.
  • Meet the College's minimum requirements for status as a scholarly academic faculty member.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Professional work experience that is directly related to financial management/planning is strongly preferred.
  • Relevant professional certifications are highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching as supported by one or more teaching awards, honors, and/or recognition.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Physical Requirements: Occasional and/or light lifting required. Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely results would be cuts, bruises, etc.
