POSITION OVERVIEW
JOB SUMMARY:

The Usha Kundu College of Health (UKCOH) Department of Social Work at UWF seeks a dynamic professional to join its cadre of faculty as an Instructor, with a start date of January 4, 2027. This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure-track position. The department offers both a Master in Social Work (MSW) that focuses on clinical practice in behavioral and health care settings and a generalist Bachelor in Social Work (BSW) degree, and the selected candidate will be expected to teach across the BSW and MSW curricula, with a primary emphasis on undergraduate courses.

Position duties include teaching courses across the social work curriculum (undergraduate and/or graduate courses) and serving as the co-director of the field office, with shared responsibility for overseeing field office processes and data collection to monitor the field office's impact on student learning across the social work curriculum (undergraduate and/or graduate courses). This candidate will also actively engage in curriculum development and department activities.

The faculty member is expected to work with municipal and regional service organizations to cultivate field placement sites and provide meaningful service to the department, college, and the profession.

Primary responsibilities
  • Meet, at a minimum, biweekly with the Department Chair to report on Social Work Field Office activities and concerns.
  • Consult promptly within 24 hours or at your earliest convenience, taking into account weekends, holidays, and emergency campus closures, with the Chair and /or relevant program coordinator regarding matters related to students, faculty, or staff.
  • Coordinate strategic planning with the Department Chair, BSW Coordinator, and MSW Coordinator.
  • Co-Develop and facilitate the Field Office orientation for the UWF SW department.
  • Co-Develop and maintain the UWF Social Work Field manual.
  • Maintain compliance with UWF and Department of Social Work policies.
  • Provide field-related training to seminar instructors, field instructors, and departmental staff.
  • Provide active supervision of field staff and support personnel.
  • Manage all aspects of the field education program in collaboration with the BSW Field Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned a MSW degree from a Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited institution.
  • Holds an active clinical license in Social Work at the time of appointment.
