Controls & Automation Engineering Co‑Op
The Controls & Automation Engineering Co‑Op is responsible for supporting ongoing engineering, compliance, and equipment readiness initiatives across the manufacturing site. This role provides hands‑on exposure to automation systems, production processes, and engineering documentation while contributing to operational improvements, commissioning activities, and quality system enhancements. The position reports to the Global Sr Manager Controls and Automation and is part of the Advanced Engineering Team located in Pensacola, FL and will be an on‑site role.
WhatYou Will Do
- Assist with data collection, downtime analysis, production performance monitoring, and support quality and inspection system improvements using sensors, cameras, and data tracking tools.
- Support automation system validation and commissioning activities, including I/O checks, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PLC, HMI, and instrumentation systems.
- Update and organize controls and technical documentation, and partner with operations and maintenance teams to support equipment readiness, safety verification, and problem resolution.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated interest in controls, instrumentation, automation systems, or industrial equipment, with a desire to learn in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production setting.
Not Applicable
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:- Previous internship or co‑op experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, supporting engineering, maintenance, or operations teams.
- Hands‑on exposure to controls and automation systems, including PLC programming, HMI development, troubleshooting, or working with industrial sensors and instrumentation.
