Safety & Environmental Technician

The Safety & Environmental Technician will be directly responsible to the Lead Safety & Environmental and the Manager Safety & Environmental. Located in Pensacola, Florida
, this role requires a basic understanding of safety and environmental standards, assisting in enforcing applicable PPMs and regulatory codes. The Technician will help maintain hazardous waste control, conduct routine safety and environmental audits, and support emergency and spill response efforts. This position involves working across various facility areas to ensure compliance and safety integrity.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining safety and environmental compliance through audits and enforcement of standards, codes, and PPMs.
  • Respond to workplace injuries, chemical spills, and accidents, assisting with investigations.
  • Conduct facility-wide safety and environmental audits, including monthly fire bottle and eyewash station inspections.
  • Perform respirator fit tests and GSE practical training for employees.
  • Support installation of fall protection systems and hazardous waste management.
  • Operate wastewater treatment systems and assist in labeling and disposal of waste materials.
  • Represent Safety & Environmental during regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Perform additional duties including new employee orientation and safety training under guidance.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOT/IATA and OSHA HAZMAT/safety certifications within 90 days.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in safety, environmental management, or hazardous waste handling.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA, 29 CFR, and hazardous material procedures.
  • Good communication, writing, and computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb, stoop, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator without restrictions.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting pay is $19/hour
  • Work schedule:
    Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
