Job Opportunity
WSP is currently searching for an Assistant Vice President Electrical Engineer for our Chipley, FL or Pensacola, FL offices.
As part of our Transportation and Infrastructure Team, you will be involved in high‑profile national and international projects, providing technical assistance and guidance from design through construction close‑out.
Responsibilities- Work within multi‑discipline project teams to develop drawings and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and owners, ensuring data integrity and compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
- Engage from project inception to completion, performing complex electrical engineering work on power distribution, fire alarm, lighting and lighting controls systems, including single‑line diagrams, control schematics, general arrangement plans, grounding design and lightning protection.
- Perform and review electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, short‑circuit studies, protective device coordination, one‑line diagram development and protective relaying.
- Prepare and present comprehensive technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, concepts and recommendations to improve or resolve design or construction issues.
- Analyze and evaluate data from field investigations, contributing to action plans for moderate‑to‑high‑level risk mitigation activities.
- Interact professionally with regulatory agencies, subcontractors and clients.
- Collaborate with professionals, engineers, planners and infrastructure authorities on federal, state, regional and locally funded projects, and on proposal and business development opportunities.
- Remain current on latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of post‑education experience as an electrical engineer on capital projects, including construction administration.
- Engineer license.
- Extensive knowledge of local, state and national building and energy codes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of adjacent disciplines such as SCADA and telecom.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
- High level of self‑leadership, attention to detail, multi‑tasking and prioritization in a dynamic work environment.
- Well‑developed critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and provide guidance and leadership to junior team members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
- Proficient technical writing and competence in office automation and discipline‑specific design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SKM/ETAP, AGI
32/Visual, etc.), mathematics and spreadsheets. - Track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work irregular schedules and travel as required.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Experience with public agencies.
