Role Description

The Fire Sprinkler System Designer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Pensacola, FL. This position is responsible for designing code‑compliant fire sprinkler systems using CAD software, preparing detailed plans, and coordinating with project managers, contractors, and field teams. Day‑to‑day tasks include reviewing architectural and structural drawings, performing hydraulic calculations, and ensuring designs meet applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications. The designer will assist with product selection, support system testing and commissioning, and update designs based on field conditions and inspection feedback.

The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, participating in project meetings, and collaborating closely with other team members to deliver efficient and reliable fire protection solutions.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Systems Design skills, including experience designing fire protection systems and interpreting construction plans.
  • Candidates should possess Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) skills, with proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Revit, or similar tools) for creating detailed system layouts.
  • Candidates should possess Testing and Research skills, including the ability to support system testing, verify performance, and research codes, standards, and product specifications.
  • Candidates should possess basic Electronics knowledge related to integrated fire protection components, control panels, and system interfaces.
  • Additional beneficial qualifications include familiarity with NFPA standards and local building codes, strong math and analytical abilities for hydraulic calculations, and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, ability to read and interpret technical documents, and strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects are important.
  • Prior experience in fire protection design is required; NICET III or IV certification is strongly preferred.
