Job Description

TRANSITIONING SERVICE MEMBERS ONLY AS PART OF THE DOW SKILLBRIDGE PROGRAM

To offer eligible Service Members currently approved to participate in the DoW Skill Bridge program the opportunity to gain first‑hand experience and insight into Navy Federal’s business, technology, resources, and procedures by providing support in focused areas, applying knowledge and education. Participate in a collaborative, team‑driven network, interact with multiple departments, utilize and further develop technical and soft skills, business knowledge, analytical techniques, and creative problem‑solving abilities.

Provide professional execution of day‑to‑day tasks and special projects while working within established standards, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Loan Officers with document collection, follow‑up functions via phone calls and electronically to members
  • Ensure progress and inclusion of required mortgage processing information (e.g. minimum required documentation, assets, income and liabilities, etc.)
  • Review loan applications for completeness, data integrity and accuracy and determine if additional and/or supporting documentation is required
  • Provide general mortgage‑related answers through Home Squad or via phone as needed to members seeking quick responses
  • Provide a moderate level of expertise and member service to resolve moderately complex inquiries, requests, and problems
  • Stay abreast of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and Navy Federal policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Schedule Type:
    Hybrid with the expectation to report onsite a minimum of 4 days per week for the first 6 months. (Ensuring to meet NFCU Hybrid Guidelines)
Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience in the mortgage lending industry
  • Working knowledge of Navy Federal first mortgage (purchase and refinance) applications, products, services, programs, policies and procedures
  • Basic data gathering and research skills
  • Effective member/customer service skills
  • Moderate skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Moderate skill performing mathematical calculations and working accurately with numbers
  • Basic skill in comprehending, analyzing, applying and communicating complex written legal documents
  • Basic skill interacting with staff, management, vendors and members diplomatically and tactfully
  • Basic skill maintaining composure in a changing environment
  • Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Effective verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Basic database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills (e.g., Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
