Overview Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! As a Medical Assistant, you will be preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts, verifying prior authorizations and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside medical staff, and assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care.
You will also be helping manage the inventory of medical supplies and cleaning rooms as needed. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working medical environment, and has previous office experience.

- Prepare for the patient visit, including pulling charts and notes, as well as setting up medical equipment
- Clean instruments and equipment after use
- Maintain and update all prior authorizations, ensuring all patients have prior authorizations for prescriptions and procedures when needed.
- Answer phones and field questions about medical issues, identifying visit needs
- Assist doctor with basic medical care and procedures
- Track lab results, call in prescriptions, and handle basic medical office duties
- Maintain relationships with medical and pharmaceutical representation;
Including scheduling Wednesday breakfast, collaborating when needed and scheduling office trainings. - Maintain a paper free workspace; including uploading all patient documents to the EMR, utilizing office approved software for taking notes, tracking patient Information, communicating with team via enguard and the EMR system and creating documents utilizing word and excel
- Maintain the patient exam rooms; including cleaning / wiping down equipment and furniture daily in patient exam rooms.
- Organize and maintain inventory logs, patient hand-outs, samples, supply closet and supply shelves.
- Organize and maintain personal and shared workspace.
- BLS Certification
- Certified Medical Assistant desired
- Medical knowledge as it relates to neurology and specifically movement disorders
- Ability to use technologies such as electronic medical records (EMR), word-processing software, spreadsheets, online calendars, Covermymeds, availity and scheduling
- Knowledge, understanding, and ability to use medical terminology, including ICD
10 and CPT coding, with awareness and knowledge of annual changes
