JOB DESCRIPTION

The Medical Assistant assists with patient care management and executes both administrative and clinical procedures. The role provides exceptional medical care that meets each patient’s physical, mental and emotional needs while adhering to prescribed treatment plans and established policies and procedures.

The position works under general supervision, involves a variety of shifts, may exceed 40 hours per week, and may require standby before, during and after severe weather or disasters.

QUALIFICATIONS – MEDICAL ASSISTANT
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an accredited medical‑assisting program or graduation from a formal medical‑services training program of the United States Armed Forces (preferred).
  • Certification/registration by day of hire or transfer with one of the following: AAMA Certified, AMT Registered with active membership, NCMA National Certified Medical Assistant, NHA, NAHP‑NRCMA, or AMCA certification.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, law, ethics, human relations, and patient education; proficiency in administrative and clinical assisting; effective written and verbal communication; basic computer skills; ability to perform EKGs and obtain accurate blood pressure readings.
QUALIFICATIONS – LPN
  • Completion of a Practical Nursing program.
  • Current LPN license in the State of Florida.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding English, patient care charts and histories, clinical and surgical operations and documentation, and patient evaluation and triage procedures.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and inventory control.
  • Knowledge of medication administration and patient care aid procedures; proficient computer skills.
