HDR is seeking a strong Transportation Business Group Manager to lead our 300+ Florida team located in North Florida, Central Florida, and Southwest Florida.
The primary duties of the Area Transportation Business Group Manager include responsibility for the operations of the transportation business group within the Florida area, including staff development, project delivery, profitability, workload, morale, quality control, and marketing support. The group provides freight rail, transit, highway/roadway, structures, civil, traffic, real estate services, communications, public involvement, transportation planning, environmental, and construction management services to transportation agencies, municipal agencies, federal agencies, and private clients across the region.
- In conjunction with business development staff, assist with developing and implementing strategies to grow the business and diversify the client base.
- Manage, supervise, and mentor staff, provide technical direction and services, administer staff, oversee quality of deliverables, manage projects, and market HDR for strategic client and project pursuits.
- Function as a principal on projects in addition to management responsibilities, and also be administratively responsible for the group’s staff and technical service functions, subsequently leading and coordinating services across service lines with other sections.
- Prepare annual revenue forecasts and budgets, monitor performance of the business group, and sell and win projects that match the interests and skill sets of the staff.
- Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel. Experience in the management and development of multi‑discipline teams is required.
- Work cooperatively with regional and national directors and coordinate services with other business lines in the company.
- Minimum 10 years’ progressive experience in a role focused on understanding and solving client issues in transportation engineering.
- Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience.
- Well established reputation and relationships with transportation clients throughout Florida.
- Bachelor's degree in a professional, architecture, engineering or related field.
- A minimum of 10 years experience.
- Demonstrated experience with leading diverse teams.
- Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.
- Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
- Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is mandatory.
