Position Summary
The Counter Clerk is responsible for creating customer and internal orders, working both independently and on a team. The Counter Clerk must be familiar with machinery, including lift trucks and allied products. Extensive on the job training and e-learning must be successfully completed. The Counter Clerk will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner.
The Counter Clerk will advance in classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.
- Accurately process and complete parts orders with minimal supervision
- Assemble hydraulic hoses without supervision
- Identify hydraulic hose and fitting size and type; build replacement hoses to match specifications
- Operate all material handling equipment in a safe manner
- Respond appropriately to customer demands
- Maintain valid driver’s license and material handling equipment operator certifications
- Attend to after hours call schedule as required
- Mentor other parts department employees as needed
- Other duties assigned by management as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Work experience involving shipping or parts operations related tasks is preferable. Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills are required. Candidates must possess the ability to quickly acquire the following required Skills and Competencies.
- Written communication skills
- Telephone and verbal communication skills
- Basic computing skills
- Area specific parts operations training
- OSHA required training
- Material handling equipment operator certification
- Compliance training
Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a Parts Department environment. Limited exposure to physical risk and weather conditions is associated with this position. Sitting for extended periods of time is often required.
Physical Requirements:
Speaking, Listening, Writing, Typing, Reaching, Kneeling, Standing, Grasping, Stooping, Lifting items up to 75 lbs., Climbing on ladders, Operating material handling equipment.
