Mechanical Assembler

This role assembles and tests wind turbine electromechanical components and sub-assemblies with minimal supervision in a production manufacturing environment. You will work from engineering drawings and work instructions, use a variety of hand and power tools, and follow strict safety and quality standards to ensure reliable, high‑quality products.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble and test electromechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies for wind turbine components, including installation, adhesive bonding, drilling, tapping, torqueing, lubricating, and wiring.
  • Work from engineering drawings, work instructions, wiring diagrams, and characteristic verification plans (CVPs) to complete tasks accurately.
  • Read and interpret work instructions and blueprints to perform precise assembly and installation activities.
  • Efficiently use calibrated equipment and machinery as part of the assembly and test processes.
  • Utilize various hand tools, electrical tools, and pneumatic air tools to complete daily work assignments.
  • Handle and apply appropriate chemicals, interpreting safety data and shelf‑life information to ensure safe and proper use.
  • Accurately inspect the condition of incoming hardware and components before assembly.
  • Follow environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance requirements for wind turbine assembly and test operations.
  • Perform complete and accurate quality documentation, ensuring records reflect actual work performed and inspection results.
  • Assist in the implementation of wind turbine documentation updates and process improvements.
  • Initiate and drive process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency in the assembly area.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and cranes in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Maintain manual or computerized records related to production, quality, and process activities.
  • Adhere to and follow all safety procedures, including lock‑out/tag‑out, reporting safety concerns, and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with coworkers and leads to coordinate work and resolve issues.
  • Follow and promote safe work practices and support a disciplined, team‑first culture on the production floor.
Essential Skills
  • Manufacturing or mechanical experience using electrical and pneumatic air hand tools in a production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical and electrical theories as they apply to assembly and test work.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and standard assembly equipment.
  • Capability to complete and maintain characteristic verification plans (CVPs) and other quality documentation accurately.
  • Experience performing installation, drilling, tapping, torqueing, lubricating, and wiring tasks on mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to efficiently use calibrated equipment and machinery as part of the assembly process.
  • Skill in inspecting incoming hardware and components for condition and suitability.
  • Ability to understand and apply safety data and shelf‑life information for chemicals used in the process.
  • Strong teamwork skills and willingness to work effectively with others in a structured, team‑oriented setting.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to coordinate work and share information with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Commitment to following EHS and safety procedures, including lock‑out/tag‑out and proper PPE use.
  • Comfort working in a hands‑on, detail‑oriented production manufacturing environment.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in a production manufacturing setting with assembly cells, bench build areas, or production lines.
  • Prior experience in assembling or testing large mechanical or electromechanical components.
  • Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes in an industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with maintaining manual or computerized production and quality records.
  • Experience contributing to process improvement initiatives in a manufacturing setting.
