What

YOU will do
  • Fabricate all primary and secondary structural components using aircraft sheet metal machine shop equipment following oral and written instructions such as supervisor’s directives and manuals to complete all routine and non‑routine assignments in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and store tools in a serviceable condition.
  • Adhere to safe maintenance practices and keep a clean work area.
  • Maintain and supply personal records of work performed on OJT forms for the Training Department.
  • Successfully complete any courses deemed necessary by the training department.
  • Perform any work that may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform the duties of and provide necessary training for lower skill levels.
Job Specifications
  • Proficient in job specifications for machinist, including setting up and operating all machine shop equipment and tools with little or no assistance.
  • Knowledge of shop math to calculate dimensions/angles; knowledge of various metal properties; thorough knowledge of metal paperwork procedures.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, SBS, AD notes, and engineering work orders; recognize proper tooling and set‑up procedures; layout and manufacture or modify parts per required paperwork or sample; hold tolerances of 0.0002 and ½ degree.
  • Set up and operate CNC equipment, make tool offsets, and machine all types of metal with proper tooling; adequate knowledge of use of indicators, height gauges and other precision set‑up devices; service machines on a daily basis.
  • Operation of reader printer; knowledge of ATA codes; general knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials; knowledge of all applicable F.A.R.’s and company policies and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of paperwork procedures including job clocking system, routine and non‑routine cards, S.R.M.’s service bulletins and work sign‑off/sell‑off procedures.
Supervision

Under general direction. Normally performs duties after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. Some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. Assignment is usually reviewed upon completion.

Interpersonal Environment

A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with co‑workers and supervision.

Physical Environment

Requires easy mobility around various sections of aircraft and the dexterity to extract and replace parts in a timely manner. Requires mental skills and quickness with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort or exertion usually caused by long working hours. Must have the capacity to gain knowledge by hearing for one’s own safety due to the dangers involved in the operations of shop equipment.

Working environment requires standing 90% of the workday on hard surfaces. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and arrive to work regularly.

What You Need
