Behavioral Health Nursing Director (RN)

We're looking for an experienced Behavioral Health Nursing Director to lead a multidisciplinary inpatient team serving adults with acute behavioral health needs in the Pensacola area. This leadership position is ideal for a skilled RN who can balance clinical expertise with strategic vision, fostering an environment of compassion, safety, and accountability within a growing behavioral health program.

You'll oversee all operational, clinical, and administrative aspects of the behavioral health unit while guiding your team toward continuous improvement and positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Direct all nursing and operational functions of the inpatient behavioral health unit.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and administrative leaders to ensure safe, evidence-based treatment.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor nursing staff while promoting engagement and retention.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Oversee departmental budgeting, staffing, and utilization management.
  • Implement initiatives to improve patient experience, safety, and quality outcomes.
  • Partner with hospital leadership and community organizations to expand behavioral health services.
Qualifications
  • Current RN license in Florida or Compact State
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration
  • At least 5 years of recent inpatient behavioral health leadership experience
  • BLS certification (within 30 days of hire)
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI/NCI) certification (within 90 days of hire)
  • Masters Degree in Nursing, Psychology, or related field
  • Experience managing high-volume inpatient behavioral health programs
  • Strong background in compliance, staff development, and operational leadership
Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly Rate: $52.80 to $62.50/hour (commensurate with experience)
