Job Description
Registered Nurse is a key player in the delivery of care consistent with the Recovery Model. This position explains illness, symptoms, courses of treatment and hope for the future and begins to teach the individual about the use and benefits of personal recovery and prevention of relapse. This position informs the individual of benefits of active treatment, including medication and the intended and unintended effects and ensures that the individual is educated about choices and resources available.
Along with ensuring a safe environment for all, the registered nurse develops with each individual a therapeutic relationship which is critical in the healing process. This position ensures that the patient is educated about their rights regarding care, privacy, safety, confidentiality of medical records, Baker Act and the right to be free from inappropriate use of restraint and seclusion. This position demonstrates and role models the use of de‑escalation and uses interpersonal skills to calm patients involved in potential conflict.
This position manages individualized, goal‑directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients. Assess patient’s progress through expected hospital course, mobilizing resources and intervening as necessary to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved as anticipated based on a pre‑determined plan for each day of hospitalization for the patient’s diagnosis.
- Develop, discuss, and communicate a realistic plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with each patient/significant other in order to address all identified needs. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and the patient/family, utilize the nursing process in the provision of quality patient care. Provide person‑centered care offering choices, engaging patients in the treatment process, fostering optimism and hope in others.
- Evaluate the identified problems, care provided, and that patient’s responses are reassessed to meet patient and family needs and assure overall quality of care delivered.
- Demonstrate the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient. Use the nursing process to effectively assess, plan treatment, implement interventions and evaluate outcomes. Analyze problems effectively and demonstrate appropriate courses of action and solutions.
- Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care.
- Maintain current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursue professional growth and development. Actively seek out opportunities to grow and develop professionally.
- Minimum Education
- Associates Degree Nursing Required
- Technical Diploma/Certificate Nursing Required
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing Preferred
- Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse Licensed State of Florida or eligible compact state upon hire required
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association upon hire required
- CPI within 90 days required
- Ukeru User Certification () within 90 days required
- Required Skills, Knowledge And Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills
