Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse provides care and education for the patient based on their illness, symptoms, and courses of treatment. Manages individualized, goal‑directed nursing care through the nursing process and principles of primary nursing, in accordance with department and practice policies and procedures. This position requires substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skill based on applied principles of psychological, physical, and social sciences.
Responsibilities- Provides professional nursing care to patients; observes, assesses, diagnoses, intervenes, and evaluates care as directed by providers.
- Performs patient check‑in duties promptly, prepares equipment, and assists physician/NP during treatment and examination of patients.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and incidents.
- Obtains vital signs, collects samples such as blood for testing, and may perform routine laboratory tests where applicable; interprets basic cardiac arrhythmias and takes appropriate action.
- Maintains up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care to ensure information integration for the healthcare team and quality care.
- Operates clinical equipment such as stress and EKG machines, cardiac monitors, defibrillators, SaO₂ monitors, and IV infusion pumps.
- Answers patient calls and requests in a timely manner.
- Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure.
- Indirectly supervises Medical Assistants; trains employees, assigns and directs work, and resolves complaints.
- Technical Diploma or Certificate in Nursing (required).
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (required).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Florida or an eligible compact state (required).
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) from the American Heart Association (required).
- Demonstrated proficiency in acute and chronic care nursing, with knowledge and skills.
- Clear understanding of quality improvement and patient satisfaction.
